Brockton Fire Chief Kenneth Galligan recalls the Blizzard of ’78, the damage it did and the response of the city and the region. The storm began on Feb. 6 and continued through the next day, dumping more than 30 inches of snow on the region. Heavy wind and a coastal storm surge destroyed hundreds of homes along the coast. Photos accompany his recollections are from the files of The Enterprise, director of photography Craig Murray, and from readers.
