WALK AROUND

Wellspring West, a thrift shop on North Street, is a great place to hunt for unusual art, kitchenware, costume jewelry and old books. With its cozy atmosphere, wall-to-wall bookcases and bric-a-brac everywhere, the shop has the feel of a private library or gallery.

Children can sit and read in the children’s area.

Friendly volunteers are happy to point out new items in the inventory. You can walk away with a great deal, like four books for $4.

CHECK IT OUT

Hingham Harbor, on the other side of Route 3A, is a short walk from the square. There, you can stroll the 100-yard strip of beach that locals call Bathing Beach.

QUICK BITES

On the way to the water, you can pick up lunch at the North Street Pizzaria, a few doors down from Wellspring, or at a number of other eateries, including Muang Thai Restaurant on North Street, Salsa's Mexican Grill on Lincoln Street and Brewed Awakenings on Main Street.

RELAX

The waterfront gets busy at this time of year, so it’s a great place to people-watch and watch boats going in and out of the harbor. Grab a seat in the town gazebo or spread a towel on the gazebo lawn.
