WALK AROUND

Go for a walk along the waterfront to enjoy the harbor views and work up an appetite. Pass the Mayflower II and stick to the path down by the water to avoid most of the tourists. There are great views of the water and there is history all around you.

CHECK IT OUT

The Plymouth Candy store is set back a bit from the sidewalk on Water Street. It’s a cute shop with a wide selection of traditional chocolate bars and candy for reasonable prices – from 5 cents to $1. Or you can try homemade fudge or chocolates.

QUICK BITES

Carmen’s Cafe Nicole, where the menu includes Mexican fare and seafood specialties, will prepare a meal in 10 to 15 minutes. The food is best enjoyed at a window-side table with a view of the water or, if the weather is right, outside on a bench. Everything on the menu is available for takeout.

RELAX

There are many benches along the waterfront where you can sit for a few minutes. There’s something about boats bobbing and waves rolling in that seems to mesmerize and provide a welcome distraction.

THE SKINNY

While it’s known as a tourist destination, the Plymouth waterfront is also a great place to grab a bite and take a walk. Several places offer takeout food, so lunch can be enjoyed on a bench near the water. Cost: $11.14 – $9.44 for a mushroom wrap and $1.70 for a chocolate turtle. Time: 60 minutes
