A $300 million film studio in Plymouth?

Bring it on, say the local carpenters, actors and technicians who hope to work there.

“We’re training new members all the time,” said Richard Anderson, business manager of the Carpenters Local 624. “There will be no problem in providing the manpower.”

Anderson says that there are more than 25,000 members of the New England Regional Council of Carpenters across its 16 regions. Project Julia LLC, the company proposing the studio, expects Plymouth Rock Studios to create more than 2,000 jobs.

Timothy Cayton, business manager of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local Union 223, shares the same vision.

“I can’t tell how you how thick my application base is,” Cayton said. “I think it’s something well needed, and we welcome it with open arms.”

Julie Dennis, cofounder of Vision Entertainment, formerly Vision Talent Agency, in Hingham, sees it as an opportunity for actors and extras beyond the Massachusetts area as well.

“The fact that such a large sound stage would be available in this area I think it would be tremendous not only (locally), but even people from New York would be able to come down to participate,” Dennis said.

The local hair and make-up industry would be no less prepared for the job, said Susan Casale, owner of the Elements salon in Plymouth, who attended a presentation about the studio plan.

“... I think it would be a valuable asset to the town,” Casale said.
