Peter Walsh

Firefighter, Plymouth

Tell us about yourself.

“The older guys in the department remember me chasing fire trucks on my bike when I was about 8.”

“I eat, breathe and sleep this job.”

“When I’m off for four days, I can’t stand to hear something happening. Four days off is too much.”

“I’m outgoing, funny, and kind of a prankster.”

“I hope one or both of my boys will grow up to be a firefighter. I’d like to see the tradition continue.”

“When people are at their worst, we’re at our best. It feels good to walk away from a car crash knowing you’ve helped somebody.”

What did you want to be when you were a kid? A firefighter
What would you have been if not a firefighter? Possibly a State Police officer, but I really never considered anything but firefighting.
Best advice you ever got: Set my sights on what I want and go for it.
Person who gave it to you: My wife.
What do you do in your time off? I like to golf and fish, but I can’t remember the last time I did either of those things. I do woodworking and carpentry, and spend time with my family. We like to go to the beach in the summer.
