BIO: Hanson grew up in Marshfield and graduated from Marshfield High School in 1975. He served in the Army for four years and graduated from Massasoit Community College with a degree in criminal justice. He also studied at the University of Hawaii while in the Army. He worked for three years for the Massachusetts Department of Correction before joining the Marshfield Police Department in 1984. He has been married for 22 years and has three sons, ages 20, 17 and 13.
What did you want to be when you were a kid? “A cop."
What would you have been if not a police officer? “I probably would’ve eventually gone back in the Army and made a career of it.”
Best advice you ever got:“Always show empathy.”

What do you do in your spare time? “I go to the gym three times a week. I also enjoy photography. I photograph several weddings a year. I also do some senior pictures.”
