Women rise, shine to the occasion of feminism

EDITOR’S NOTE: From as far away as Panama City and as close to home as Quincy, women around the country have shared their thoughts on feminism. These are just a couple of many spirited, intelligent and insightful responses Dianne McDonald’s Feb. 26th column, “Many women have false image of feminism,” elicited. Read the rest of our letters on page 27.

I’d like to use this space for the first time and support Dianne McDonald, “Many women have false image of feminism,” Feb. 26.

I’ve never written on any other writers before, but this is a new voice, bold and certainly timely, if not a little late. McDonald has spoken to the Everywoman with a candor and humor.

The choice to run McDonald’s column shows a lot about The Patriot Ledger and how you are progressing in a “progressive” way. This is an infusion in the community that is a breath of fresh air.

Brava to The Patriot Ledger for acknowledging the value of a strong woman’s voice, speaking to her compatriots, stimulating and teasing women into discovering their voice and their chosen place in the currently scorned world of feminism.

I spiritedly look forward to more articles of the kind from Dianne McDonald.

I found the article by Dianne McDonald on feminism to be a delightful addition to the woMYnZone. I grew up in the bra burning days and it is nice to know someone is still speaking about feminism in its purest sense.

It was well written and I enjoyed it. Took me back to my old days when it was a struggle and it is nice to know the young women of today are still on board and continuing the cause in a positive way.
