Proudest Accomplishments

Having children and raising them. My work with Compassionate Friends. My work as a psychiatric clinical nurse specialist, and all of the wonderful things that particular specialty has allowed me to do. I also endowed an annual seminar at Rhode Island Hospital for all trauma nurses, inspired by the nurses that helped my son.

One that goes exactly the way I planned it, where I can go to work, take care of my patients and treat them with no hitches, come home, have dinner with my 17-year-old son, and be able to spend time with my daughter and my three grandchildren and any friends.

Looking Forward

Eventually slowing down. Right now I have to work full time because I need the medical insurance, but later I can partially retire and enjoy traveling – I love to travel. Just being able to travel around the world, visiting all the wonderful places around the world that life has to offer, and go to Disney World with my grandchildren.

Pass It On

When tragedy first strikes, it’s learning to live one day at a time ... I live my life with the idea that I am going to honor my son’s memory with everything that I do; that’s what gives me hope. The stark reality of knowing that he will not be coming back to me in human flesh that I can touch is very hard to deal with, but if I can honor his memory then I can move on.
