BROCKTON — Councilor-at-large Linda M. Balzotti is seeking a sixth term on the City Council.
Balzotti, 46, of 10 Felton St. said she hopes her experience for the past decade will give city voters the confidence to return her to the City Council.
“I really believe that I still have something to give to the city,” said Balzotti, first elected as councilor in Ward 4 in 1997.
In 2005, Balzotti gave up her seat as Ward 4 councilor to run for an at-large seat. She was the only woman and the top vote-getter in the at-large race that year.
The general election is Nov. 6.
Goals for her next term if she is re-elected include finding uses for abandoned buildings in the city and addressing escalating youth violence in the city.
“I want to hear also from young people about what it is the city needs to be doing,” Balzotti said.
Balzotti, a public relations official at Bridgewater State College, said she wants to stay involved in city politics as the next few years will be “tight” ones in terms of the city's finances.
“I have a depth of knowledge and the convictions needed to see us through,” she said.
