BROCKTON — Mayoral candidate Jass Stewart confirmed that a $78,000 mortgage he has taken out on his home will be used as a line of credit for his campaign.
Stewart said the money could be needed if he advances past the Sept. 18 preliminary election.
“We're making sure we have all the resources lined up to make sure we win the election on Nov. 6,” Stewart said.
The mortgage on Stewart's Clyde Street home was recorded in the Plymouth County Registry of Deeds last week.
Stewart could not immediately provide figures on how much money he has raised and spent so far for the campaign.
Stewart is running for mayor for the second time. He lost to James Harrington by 12 percent of the vote in 2005.
