Varraso to run for at-large council seat

BRAINTREE - Alfred W. Varraso has announced his candidacy for an at-large seat on the town council.

Varraso, a resident of Spruce Street, is a longtime town meeting member and former selectman and school committee member. He is on the Outstanding Citizen of the Year committee and recently served on the committee that wrote the town’s new mayoral charter.

A native of Braintree, he is a former assistant superintendent/director of Blue Hills Regional Technical School and worked as a superintendent at the former Fore River shipyard.

“There are many issues to be resolved in our town, and I believe our new government will help us do a better job implementing and prioritizing the many needs of our community,” he said in a statement.

“Only so much money is available, as is true in any town, and the leaders must spend it wisely.”

Aside from six district seats, there will be three at-large seats up for grabs in the November election.

Anyone with questions about the campaign can contact William Varroso at 781-848-0481, or Carmela Varraso at 781-843-8086.
