BRAINTREE - The field for the town’s first mayoral election is set.
Brian Muello, Joseph Powers, Joseph Sullivan and Paul Walsh each filed nomination papers by Tuesday’s 5 p.m. deadline and will appear on next month’s primary ballot.
Each candidate had to submit 25 signatures from the town’s six new voting districts.
The primary election is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 25. The mayoral race will be the lone contest on the ballot. The top two vote-getters will move on to the general election Nov. 6.
During the general election, voters will also elect new school, library, light department and housing authority boards, as well as their representatives to the new nine-member town council.
Nomination papers for those contests will be available at the town clerk’s office starting Monday.
