First votes for Braintree mayor cast today

BRAINTREE - It’s election day in Braintree and for the first time in history, voters will cast ballots for a mayor.

The two top vote-getters in the preliminary election will move on to the general election on Nov. 6.

The candidates are: Brian Muello, of Academy Street; Joseph F. Powers, of Holmes Street; Joseph C. Sullivan, of West Street; and Paul M. Walsh, of Howard Street.

Polls are open until 8 p.m.

—Precinct 1: Marge Crispin Center, 74 Pond St.

—Precinct 2: Town hall auditorium, Washington Street at Central Avenue

—Precinct 3: Hollis Elementary School gym, Washington Street at Webster Road

—Precinct 4: Flaherty Elementary School, Lakeside Drive at Braintree Dam

—Precinct 5: St. Thomas More Lower Church, Elm Street at Adams and Middle streets

—Precinct 6: Ross Elementary School, Hayward Street at Commercial Street

—Precinct 7: Rear of Watson research facility, Quincy Avenue

—Precinct 8: East Middle School, at end of River Street off Middle Street

—Precinct 9: Morrison Elementary School, 268 Liberty St.

—Precinct 10: Liberty Elementary School, Proctor Road

—Precinct 11: South Middle School, Liberty and Peach streets

—Precinct 12: Highlands Elementary School, Wildwood Avenue at Bradford Road
