WEYMOUTH - Massachusetts Lt. Gov. Tim Murray and Democratic state reps. James Murphy of Weymouth and Joseph Driscoll of Braintree have endorsed Sue Kay for mayor of Weymouth.
In his endorsement, Murray said Kay “is a proven town manager.”
“Sue has an excellent reputation both personally and professionally,” said Murray, a former mayor of Worcester. “I can state unequivocally, Sue will be an excellent mayor. If given the opportunity, I look forward to working with Mayor Kay on the many issues important to Weymouth.”
Murphy cited Kay’s term as executive secretary in Braintree as an indication of her ability.
“Sue is the only candidate who possesses experience running a town government,” he said. “She has done an excellent job as Braintree’s executive secretary. We now need to bring those skills and experience to Weymouth, where Sue can hit the ground running as our new mayor.”
Driscoll said Kay has “done an excellent job running our town government.”
“Sue’s financial skills and budget management skills have been invaluable to our town,” he said. “She has been the face of Braintree’s government for both residents and local elected officials alike.”
Kay and Colin McPherson are running for Weymouth’s corner office in the Nov. 6 election. McPherson has been endorsed by state Sen. Robert Hedlund and outgoing Mayor David Madden.
