QUESTION 1
OUR OPINION: Question 1: A dangerous solution
This is a monumentally terrifying referendum that not only throws the baby out with the bath water, it burns down the house and moves out-of-state so the child is orphaned and left to grow on its own.
QUESTION 2
OUR OPINION: Question 2: A solution in search of a problem
Question 2 just goes too far for an activity that affects, by even supporters best estimates, roughly 12 percent of the state’s residents. As one district attorney rightfully said, it is a solution in search of a problem.
QUESTION 3
OUR OPINION: Question 3: Industry fate should not be by ballot
Dog racing may be a dying industry, but voters should not be the ones to put it out of business. That should be the choice of consumers.
CONGRESS
OUR OPINION: Frank for Congress: Learning to be a leader
What we have witnessed in recent years is the emergence of Frank as a leading market-side pragmatist and authority on the nation’s economy and someone who has found his sense of place and security in dealing with one-time political combatants.
OUR OPINION: Lynch, Delahunt have earned a check
Both Delahunt and Lynch have proven to be good learners and steady members of an often raucous and unpredictable Congress.
U.S. SENATE
OUR OPINION: Kerry for Senate: Focused on the now
With several meetings with Kerry over the past year, we’ve seen a changed public official, one very much at ease with his record and his place and we think he has earned the right to return to the Senate and carry on the promise many voters in the state believe they have seen through his career.
